Q) Answer following questions in about 40 words.

Q1) What characters Abdul inherited from his father and mother?
Ans1) Abdul’s father was an austere, honest and self disciplined man. His mother was generous and kind. His childhood was secure both materially and emotionally.

Q2) How did Abdul kalam earn his first wages?
Ans2) The train stoppage was suspended at Rameswaram station due to world war. Bundles of newspapers were thrown from running train. Samsuddin, cousin of Abdul, was the distributor of newspaper in Rameswaram. He needed a helping hand to collect these bundles. So he employed Abdul and he paid him money. Thus Abdul earned his first wages and felt much delight.

Q3) Who was Sivasubramania  lyer ? What did he say to Abdul?
Ans3) Sivasubramania lyer was the science teacher in Abdul’s school. He invited Abdul to have food at his home.

Q4)What was the reaction of science teacher’s wife when Abdul was invited for food? What the teacher did?
Ans4) Science teacher’s wife was an orthodox Brahmin. She was very upset to know that muslim boy would enter her kitchen. She refused to serve him food. But teacher himself served the food.. Moreover he even sat beside him to eat his meal. The teacher told Abdul that once we decided to change the system, such problems had to be confronted.

Q5) Who were A.P.J Abdul kalam’s childhood friends? What are they doing now?
Ans5) Ramananda Sastry, Arivindan and Siva prakashan. Raanadha were the childhood friends ofA.P.J Abdul kalam. Sastry is the high priest of the Ramanandha temple, Arvindan went into the business of arranging transport for visiting pilgrims and Sivapraksan become a catering contractor for the southern Railways.

Q6) How did Abdul’s father console Abdul‘s mother when she was reluctant to send him away?  
Ans6) When Abdul wanted to go outside Rameshwaram, his mother was very upset. Abdul kalam’s father consoled her. He referred to khalil Gibran that our children were not ours. They were the sons and the daughters of life’s longing for itself. They come through us and not from us. We should  give them our love but theirs thoughts were their own.
