Ans 1) Jerome thought that he knew about packing more than
any other person. So he volunteered himself to do the packing.

Ans2) Jerome considered himself the best packer in the
world. When he offered to pack his real intention was to boss the work. He
wanted Harris and George to do work under his directions.
