Excess of everything is bad

Life is full of beautiful things. Some are good to eat, some are good to smell and some are good for health. But none is good if consumed in excess. The most delicious and nutritious food can be devoured only to a limit, after that it will cause discomfort. Money in excess is root cause of many evils. Exercise in excess can damage muscles. Child care in excess is called pampering and spoils the child. Sleep in excess produce laziness. Work in excess makes us workaholic. There is no place for excess in life. Life is beautiful if things are present in balance.

encroachment of park

Q) Your area has only one park that is facing problem of encroachment by a builder. Write a paragraph in about 100 words mentioning the consequences of this encroachment.

Ans)
Ambedkar park is the only open space in our otherwise congested area. It is the only respite for children and old age people who gather here in the morning and evening for recreation and social activities.
But since few weeks a builder, who is constructing a building nearby, has encroached a big portion of this park for placing his building material. Children can not play as trucks load and unload material throughout the day. Air has become full of minute particles.
To add to our trouble he has erected some tents also for sheltering his laborers. About 100 laborers and their family members are living here. They have spoilt the whole beauty of the park. A heap of garbage is also gathering in a corner. Moreover, some anti social elements are finding chance to sneak in the colony. This is posing law and order problem.

An interesting book you have read

Last month I came across a book in library. I read a small review from its flap. It stirred my mind so much that the next day, I rushed to market, purchased a copy of it and stared its reading. The book was “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. It’s a world renowned book. Napoleon Hill spent many years of his life to meet and interview the most successful people of the world.  He discovered a truth that lays behind all success stories across the borders and cultures. He proposed that “Anything that a human mind can conceive and believe can become reality”. This concept is soul searching. It   encourages that we need to develop capacity to think, to think big and think clearer. Our target should be crystal clear and our belief should be rock strong. We should not worry about resources and struggle.  This book is a real jewel of my small collection of books.

Reading

We gain knowledge in our life by experience or study. Under study comes reading, listening, watching and writing. Out of these reading is the best skill to acquire maximum knowledge. We can read with our own pace. We can pause to ponder. Most of precious knowledge of any society is stored in the books that can be penetrated and gained only by a mind trained in reading. We should develop habit of reading by going through books and other print material on variety of subjects. Nowadays there is focus on tuitions, coaching, CDs and smart classes. This is diverting the attention from reading. It is not good in long run as practice of self study is diminishing in students. They are dependent on others to gain knowledge. A student must develop habit of reading and self study.

Advertisements have both commercial and advertisement values. In a Capitalistic economy advertisement play very important role. They make the customer aware of the product. They help in branding the product. They even create new customers. We can see advertisement in all electronic media like T.V and radio, print media like newspaper and magazines and public places like railway stations and bus stands etc. Nowadays internet is yet another powerful platform for advertisement. Mobile ads through SMSes are also gaining popularity. Advertisements also create jobs for many adverting agencies, actors, editors etc. It will not be an exaggeration if we say that all TV channels, radio, newspaper, magazines, sports events and many other functions are running because of earning from the advertisements. But advertisements also have negative aspects like increasing cost of product, misguiding, putting pressure on consumers. With some checks and balance like creating awareness among consumers and making some laws in favor of them, advertisements are good for economy.

Say no to plastic bags

Plastic is an environment Hazard. Polythene bags are polluting, land, water, and air because they are non- biodegradable. A plastic bag if buried in soil will remain there intact even after hundreds of years. Plastic is impermeable to water and air. Hence water cannot percolate down the plastic sheet and it also deprives the soil of the oxygen. Thus it deteriorates the fertility of the land. Plastic is lighter than water and floats on the its surface. It stops mixing of vital Oxygen from air to water. It is lethal for aquatic life. Plastic can neither melt in water nor degrade in soil. It is very difficult to get rid of it. Even burning causes air pollution as many poisonous gases are produced in the process. Thinner than 5 micron plastic bags are especially harmful because if they are mixed in the soil, they cannot be picked. We must ban its uses.

T.V program I like the most

There is a flood of T.V. serials these days because of multichannels. But all programs are not of same standards. My favorite program is “Balika vadhu” of “colours “channel. It raises an important social issue-the child marriage. In many parts of India child marriage is still practiced. Children are married in very small age. This not only affects their education but spoils their whole life. Through the story of “Anandi” this serial depicts the problems emerged in this system. Only stringent laws can’t stop the child marriage. Public awareness is necessary. Government should focus on the education especially adult education in the backward areas where problem is more rampant. By making this kind of series T.V can play very important role is social awakening.

Inflation

Inflation is a big problem of developing countries and India is not an exception. In the last decade prices have raised many folds. Inflation hits the poor and the middle class man the hardest. Problem has become more challenging because mostly all essential commodities like food grains, vegetables, fruit, clothes and other daily use items have become costly. Purchasing power of people is decreasing. Demand for goods is decreasing. Hence manufactures are also suffering. Government should intervene before job-cutting starts. It can take form of recession any time which is deteriorating for the economy. Government should create jobs especially in rural regions. It should control prices of essential commodities through public distribution system. In a democratic and poor country it is the duty of government to save the citizens from high inflation.

Dowry system

Dowry system is a curse on our society. It has taken very dangerous form in modern time. Dowry can be defined as the gifts given by bride’s family at the time of marriage to the groom’s family. But now it is not just a gift. It is a demand and demand is mounting day by day. Many girls remain unmarried for the want of dowry. Many others have to face the difficult time in the house of in-laws. This system has many other manifestations also like female child foeticide, malnutrition in girls, distorted sex ratio etc. A society, which cannot respect its women, can’t grow. We should uproot this bad custom by strict laws and public awareness. Boys also have an important role in it. They should have courage enough to oppose this inhumane practice.

A noiseless Diwali

Diwali is the most important festival of Hindus. It is celebrated with great pomp and show. It is a festival of light. It is celebrated because on this day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana. Nowadays it has become festival of noise and pollution. Main reason is increasing use of crackers. On every diwali there are many incident of burning. Children are the main victims. It creates lots of air and noise pollution. It is very harmful for patient, older,   and in facts Moreover, it wastes lots of money. There is a dangerous fact that all crackers manufacturing factories are using child labors. They are working in a very inhumane environment. We cannot celebrate and enjoy our festival on the cost of their life. Government is also taking strict actions against factory owners. We should take oath of making a noiseless Diwali.

A student life

Student life is a life of patience, discipline and hard work. The most Basic quality a student must possess is curiosity to know. For this he must be humble because only then he can gain and retain maximum knowledge. He must live a life of discipline to utilize his time and energy efficiently. Teachers are the most important persons in his life. He should not indulge wasteful activities. He should increase fitness of his body and mind because only a healthy body can contain a healthy Brain. He should live a balanced life. There should be place for sports, entertainment, nutrition and exercise. Student life is the most important phase of our life which decides our future course.

Corruption

Corruption is a virus eating on our roots. It has many forms like bride, Favor, adulteration, non performance of duty etc. It has many reasons for spreading universally. The main reason is greed. Most of the big corruption cases involve rich people. Other reasons are inflation, poverty and corrupt system. A society cannot grow with corrupt practices. We must get rid of it. Government should make strict laws against it. Public awareness should be increased. Recently Anna hazare led a movement for strong lokpal bill. Public came out in large number in his support. Now Corruption is a hot issue in Indian politics. It is high time to uproot this menace from our society.

Newspaper

Newspaper is very useful in our life. They introduce us with important national and international incidents. They widen our outlook. They enrich our knowledge. They deepen our understanding. A man will become “frog of a well “without newspaper.

Newspapers also act as a medium between government and common people. By newspaper we can communicate with Government, put pressure on it and give suggestions. Newspapers are wonderful means of building public opinion.
Newspapers are also helpful in business. We can see adverstiments of all sorts for promoting product. Newspaper also plays a role in entertainment.
Newspapers are true mirror of a society.
