Part--1

 Q1) What was Vijay Singh’s weakness? Which awkward situation did it push him into?

Ans1) He was fond of boasting. This pushed him into a trouble. He had to visit a ghost.

Q2) Was the old woman’s gift to Vijay Singh eccentric? Why?

Ans2) The old woman‘s gift to Vijay Singh was not eccentric. Actually the gift of an egg and a lump of salt came to his help. By crushing these in his fist, he proved that he was stronger than the ghost.

Q3) Why did Vijay Singh ask the ghost disguised as Natwar to come closer?

Ans3)  Vijay singh wanted to know how strong the ghost was.

Q4) What made the ghost speechless? Why?

Ans4) Vijay Singh challenged the ghost to fight. This made him speechless because everybody is afraid of the ghost and is even fainted to see a him. But Vijay Singh was calling him stupid and worthless. His courage and boldness made the ghost speechless.

Q5) Why did Vijay Singh say, “Appearances can be deceptive”?

Ans5)   Vijay Singh said so because he challenged the ghost to fight with him. He wanted to proof himself stronger than the ghost.

Q6) How did Vijay Singh use the egg? How did he use the lump of salt?

Ans6) Vijay Singh used the egg to create the illusion of the stone being crushed. He used the lump of salt to break it like a stone. Thus he surprised the ghost.

Q7) Why did Vijay Singh conclude that the ghost would not be a worthy opponent to him? Was he fair in his judgment?

Ans7) The ghost could not see that Vijay Singh crushed only an egg and a lump of salt. Vijay Singh easily befooled him. So Vijay Singh concluded that the ghost was not a match to him. Vijay Singh was fair in his judgment because the ghost was stupid though not weak.

Q8) Why did Vijay Singh ask the ghost to accompany him to town next day ?

Ans8) Vijay Singh wanted to prove that he had defeated a ghost. He also wanted to show the ghost to the people as a trophy of his victory. So he asked the ghost to accompany him to the town.

Ans9) The ghost hit Vijay Singh hard seven times. He even did not groan. So, ghost took him to be dead.

Q10) Vijay Singh complained of insects in the cave. What was he referring to, and why?

Ans10) Vijay Singh was referring to seven hard blows of the club. He said he counted seven flapping of the insect’s wings. He said so to make the ghost believe that he was very strong.

Q11) Was it really a ghost who Vijay Singh’s befooled? Who do you think it was ?

Ans11) It was not a ghost. A ghost behaves does not like this, nor can he be befooled. It was a robber who looted the people.
